Why Charging Your Worth Strengthens Community and Empowers Your Healing Journey

Charging Your Worth

As healers and practitioners committed to empowering others through deep listening and connection to Country, many of us grapple with the idea of charging adequately for our services. This can be particularly challenging given our heartfelt commitment to supporting community wellbeing and honouring Indigenous wisdoms.

Yet, it’s important to acknowledge an often-overlooked truth: when we undervalue our services, someone, somewhere is subsidising our work. Whether it’s through maintaining a full-time or part-time job elsewhere, managing multiple roles, or stretching ourselves thin to offer reduced rates, this approach can ultimately limit our ability to sustainably serve our community.

Charging your worth does not diminish your contribution or the sacredness of your gift; rather, it enhances it.

When we recognise and honour the true value of our offerings, we foster a cycle of genuine reciprocity—Ngalimi Yunggudya (giving to each other)—that supports both practitioner and client.

Embracing fair compensation allows us as healers to show up fully, deeply connected to our inner fire, and ensures we can continue our vital work without experiencing burnout or exhaustion. It empowers us economically, creating stability and the potential for growth, so we can expand our impact and help more people reconnect with their own inner wisdom.

Consider this: valuing your work appropriately is not simply an economic decision, but an act of self-respect and community strengthening. When we step confidently into our worth, we model for others the very healing we aim to facilitate—empowering people to live authentically, valuing their unique gifts, and embracing their innate strengths.

Reflect Deeply

So, reflect deeply—Ngardi Guwanda—on the value you bring to your community. Understand that by charging your worth, you are creating a sustainable foundation from which meaningful, long-lasting healing can thrive.

Let’s shift the narrative. By honouring our own worth, we uplift ourselves, our community, and ultimately, create spaces where healing can flourish on everyone’s terms.
