The Healer’s Journey: Embracing Abundance with an Open Heart

As healers, we embark on a path guided by compassion and a deep desire to make a difference. Yet, many of us find ourselves at a crossroads, struggling to reconcile our calling to help others with the practical need to sustain ourselves. This inner conflict can cast a shadow of guilt or discomfort over the financial aspects of our work, leaving us feeling torn and uncertain.

But what if we could view this challenge not as a burden, but as an opportunity for growth? What if, by embracing abundance in our lives and work, we could actually expand our capacity to serve and heal?

A fellow healer recently shared a powerful revelation:

“I used to feel so awkward about earning money for my healing work. But then I realised – money isn’t dirty. It’s a form of energy that allows me to continue doing the important work I’m called to do.”

This insight touches the heart of a transformation many of us need to undergo. It’s about shifting our perspective, not just on money, but on our own worth and the value of our gifts.

In Indigenous wisdom, we find three principles that can guide us on this journey:

1. Gudu-Guduwa (Coming Together)

When we gather as a community of healers, something magical happens. We create a safe space to share our struggles, including our complicated feelings about money. In this circle of trust, we discover we’re not alone. We draw strength from each other, rekindling the inner fire that first called us to this path.

2. Ngardi Guwanda (Deep Listening)

By practising deep listening – to ourselves, to others, to the whispers of the universe – we begin to unravel the knots of our discomfort around money. We tune into the wisdom of those who’ve walked this path before us. Through this listening, we grow more confident in our own voice and learn to set loving boundaries that honour both ourselves and those we serve.

3. Ngalimi Yunggudya (Giving To Each Other – Reciprocity)

At the heart of healing work is an exchange of energy. When we charge fairly for our services, we’re not taking – we’re participating in a sacred dance of giving and receiving. This balance allows us to show up fully for the people accessing our services, to continually hone our skills, and to sustain our practice for the long haul.

As we embrace these principles, we may find:

  • Our awkwardness around money begins to dissolve, replaced by a sense of clarity and purpose.
  • We start to see money not as a necessary evil, but as a tool that supports our vision and impact to heal and serve.
  • We feel empowered to invest in our growth, expanding our skills and the reach of our healing work.
  • We set boundaries with love, modelling self-care and self-respect for those we guide.
  • Our inner light burns brighter, allowing us to touch more lives and create ripples of healing that extend far beyond our immediate circle.

Remember, gorgeous healer, your economic wellbeing is not separate from your healing work – it’s an integral part of it. By valuing yourself and your gifts, you create a strong foundation from which you can offer your best to the world.

As you continue on this beautiful, challenging journey, hold these truths close to your heart. Your ability to thrive allows you to serve more deeply. Your abundance creates abundance for others. And in embracing your worth, you light the way for others to do the same.

May your path be blessed with clarity, courage, and the joy of serving from a full and open heart.

yarn soon,
